Thank-you for all the feedback from my last update – again another month has sped by, and I think that I saw some sunshine yesterday.

Lots to get through this month! Please read to the end and thank-you in advance for your time!

New support package for CHISEL residents

I have some very good news to share with you this month – CHISEL have partnered with Life and Progress to provide a comprehensive telephone and online support package, which can help you if you ever need to talk to somebody about everyday living concerns, like debt management and budgeting; health and wellbeing (it provides live counselling) and tackling stress and anxiety.

I have worked with Life and Progress at other housing associations, and they have proven very successful with residents and got lots of positive feedback. All the contact you have with Life and Progress is completely confidential – we won’t know that you’ve called, or what you have discussed.

New colleagues

I know that you like to be kept up to date with the staffing at CHISEL and I’m pleased to say that I think our team is now complete, with the appointment of Neil Giles as our Neighbourhood Manager based in Brighton. We have some great homes and residents in Brighton, and I think that they will now get the attention they deserve with Neil’s appointment.

New projects

CHISEL has partnered with Stonewall Housing to provides our first supported housing scheme. This will support LGBT+ people aged 18-25 at risk of homelessness. I’m really proud that CHISEL have been able to support this scheme, and it is the first of this sort of accommodation in the area, and a really wonderful use of our ‘stock’/ homes.

Get involved!

CHISEL will be relaunching our resident engagement programme across this year, but I want to update it a bit, so you can get involved in the things that matter most to you. To that end, I have two opportunities for you for March…

  1. Please send an email if you are an original self-builder(or live in a self-build property and are super passionate about it) and would like to meet the consultant who is leading on our stock condition surveys from Calford Seadon. This will take place on Microsoft Teams or Zoom in a couple of weeks’ time, so please let reply as soon as you can. This was a promise we made at our AGM and will be a great opportunity for you to ask questions and help shape how the surveys will take place. Please write ‘self-build forum’ in the subject field when you reply.
  2. Another online workshop that I would ask you to join in with is all about our website . We are currently revamping it, and we are looking for up to 10 residents to discuss what you think works best and how we could improve it. We will have a rough proposal to share with you. This opportunity will be paid with shopping vouchers, and will take place online, again in a couple of weeks’ time. Please write ‘Website’ in the subject field when you email.

Our resident engagement activities are not open to residents with whom we are engaged in with legal action or who are the perpetrator in an ASB case.

That’s all for now – thank you for your time, and a final big shout out to Flamenco Co-op – wonderful members of the CHISEL family who made me and Jordan feel so at home at their meeting.
