Part-time Surveyor (3 days per week)
CHISEL is a neighbourhood housing association based in Southeast London, which provides a range of homes for people in housing need. We manage about 250 homes in south-east London & Brighton.
CHISEL provides both self-contained and shared housing for rent. About one third of our properties are Walter Segal timber-framed houses built by the tenants who live in them. The rest are mainly modernised older properties although we do have a small number of purpose-built homes.
Ideally, candidates will hold relevant technical qualification(s) and be able to demonstrate a wealth of experience of the built environment. You will have strong planning and communication skills for managing contractors and updating residents on the progress of their works. We are a small team all of whom work part-time, so teamwork; flexibility and adaptability will be vital in this role.
We are looking for someone who will:
- Develop a demonstrable knowledge of the condition of the Organisation’s Assets to inform, formulate and manage a rolling five year planned maintenance programme.
- Provide a high quality repairs and planned maintenance service ensuring all stock owned and managed by the Association is maintained to high standard.
- Work effectively with CHISEL’s contractors and Managing Agents to ensure the responsive maintenance service provided meets the agreed standards of service delivery.
- Support the Operations Manager in delivering a high maintenance service.
You will be responsible for your own designated area of work and oversee all areas of contracted work. You will also be responsible for managing and monitoring KPI’s and ensuring that we receive value for money from our partners and contractors. Your aims will be to deliver a cost-effective and efficient service focusing on customer excellence and commercial viability. The management of health and safety will be an essential component of your role.
