Meetings with tenants in May and June 2019

What’s happening at CHISEL: an update meeting

Many of you will be aware from discussions at tenant’s meetings and our most recent AGM, that CHISEL faces some financial challenges and choices. Within the organisation we have been working to address these and we now feel that we are at a stage where we need to share our thinking with you as it affects your future.

We will meet with tenants to hear your views about these options, on

Saturday 18th May, 10:30 am
St Laurence Centre, 37 Bromley Road, Catford, London SE6 2TS.

This is the venue we used for our last AGM as it had good transport links and parking, and tenants advised it was easy to get to. Please put this date in your diary; we will write to tenants to confirm the exact arrangements, nearer the time.

Texting CHISEL – new service

Posted on: 01-11-18

We now have a new interactive text messaging service.

It’s never been quicker and easier to stay in touch, or to get important information on your rent account and repairs on your home.

This page has more information: www.chisel.org.uk/tenants-information/texting-chisel/

The text service is useful for tenants managed directly by CHISEL. Those managed by agents (eg Three Boroughs HC or Colne HA) should continue to contact their managing agent.

New contact number for repairs from 2 January

Posted on: 18-12-17

From 2nd January 2018, the CHISEL office is handling all repairs in CHISEL directly managed properties. LFSA are no longer providing the repair service on CHISEL’s behalf for directly managed properties.

Tenants living in properties managed by LFSA and Three Boroughs should continue to contact them about repairs.

Tenants managed directly by CHISEL should report repairs to the CHISEL office main number: 020 8692 5258. For emergency issues out of hours, call the same number (020 8692 5258) and choose Option 1.

Reporting by email or the CHISEL website remains the same, for directly managed properties:

  • email repairs@chisel.org.uk
  • use the Report A Repair form (also linked on the home page at chisel.org.uk)
  • use the repair form in your MyTenancy account

If emailing about a repair or using the CHISEL webform, it helps if you can send us a photo of the problem.

Give your views on social housing directly to the government!

Posted on: 18-12-17

All social housing tenants are invited to participate in a feedback questionnaire for the government, which will contribute to what is included in new policies. The deadline is Jan 31 2018.

https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/tenants2017

The government says: this is not a consultation exercise or a survey as such, but a means for council, housing association and housing co-op tenants to engage and share your views with the Housing and Planning Minister.  The feedback received through this questionnaire will feed into the scope and content of the Social Housing Green Paper.

CHISEL will change how it deals with responsive repairs – from 2 Jan 2018

Information for residents following the fire at Grenfell Tower

Posted on: 22-06-17

A major fire broke out on Tuesday 13 June at the 24-storey Grenfell Tower in West London. As of Monday 19 June, 79 people are presumed dead or missing. Our thoughts are with those affected.

We want to reassure our tenants that their safety is taken extremely seriously across CHISEL.

General fire safety advice is provided at our Your Home and Safety page,  or download as a pdf file from this link.

Fire safety advice is also available at: www.london-fire.gov.uk/FireSafety.asp

What is CHISEL doing to help keep residents safe from risks of fire?

  • We undertake fire risk assessments (FRA’s) in all our shared housing, blocks of flats, and houses that are converted into flats which are above 3 storeys. These are undertaken by a suitably qualified external consultant.
  • We are embarking on a planned programme of scheme inspections to ensure all communal areas are kept clear from fire risks.
