Disability aids and improvements

CHISEL can obtain funding from the Housing Corporation that will enable us to provide various 'aids' and 'adaptations' for tenants with disabilities. These adaptations include grab rails, bath rails, ramps, extra loud doorbells with flashing lights (for people with hearing problems), freestanding showers and stair lifts.

If you have a disability and feel that one or some of these adaptations could be useful to you, please contact your Housing Manager.

You do not need to be registered disabled, but only in need of an adaptation that could help you manage better in your home. We may need a recommendation from a local authority occupational therapist, but we will help you contact one if you have not already done so.

If your accommodation becomes unsuitable because you or a member of your family develops a disability, we can discuss the possibility of a transfer, e.g. to a lower floor.
Contact your Housing Manager, who will be pleased to help.
